Best things to do with kids in KC

No matter how old your kids are, you’ll find a ton of fun things to do in KC. Many spots offer learning experiences while being fun for the whole family. This list includes some of my favorites. Whether you want to learn about animals, build with Lego, or enjoy a theme park, you’re bound to find something on this list your whole family will enjoy. You can get away with spending a couple of hours at some of these locations, but several of them will be worth a full-day adventure.

      Visit the tropical ocean in an underwater tunnel! Visit Lou, Gertrude, and Shawny – rescued sea turtles that have been deemed unreleasable. Make sure you stop at the interactive touch pool and touch starfish and sea urchins!

      Fritz’s is one of the best restaurants for kids and adults in KC. You will order your food via a phone located at each table. You and your kids will both love watching your burgers delivered by miniature train. Make sure you get your conductor’s hat while you’re there, too!

      Science City encourages your kids to touch everything! The Let’s Play section allows even the youngest explorers to enjoy their visit. Dinosaur lovers will enjoy digging for dinosaur bones and helping to restore dinosaur fossils. You’ll definitely want to plan to spend a full day here.

  • Kansas City Zoo in Kansas City, United States

      Visit the animals and more here! Watch zookeepers feed penguins. Plan to stop by a chat or Q&A to learn about your favorite animals. Use their website to help plan a route through the zoo that is best for your needs, including one meant for toddlers.

  • Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, United States

      Snoopy Land is the perfect spot to take your littlest kids for a fun Peanuts-filled adventure. Explore haunted houses around Halloween and visit Santa during Christmas. Included in the ticket price is a trip to the attached waterpark, Oceans of Fun. This is at least a one-day adventure.

  • Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in Overland Park, United States

      Admission is only $3! Learn about, and help feed, many different farm animals. Experience frontier life at the blacksmith and one-room schoolhouse. Stop by one of several playgrounds when you just want to relax for a few minutes while your kids burn off some steam. This is definitely worth a full-day adventure.
