Things to do in NYC with Kids
Danielle Call
You may be wondering how someone that doesn't have kids can recommend things to do with kids. Well, we were all kids once and the very first time I was in NYC I was only 9 years old! There are a ton of great things to do in the city with kids.
Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty National Monument, Rockefeller Center, Central Park Carousel, Central Park Zoo, Central Park Model Boat Sailing, American Museum of Natural History

I highly recommend a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island for kids and adults on a visit to NYC. It is a tremendous piece of art and history, and if your little ones enjoy learning new things, both places have great engagement programs for kids and adults.

Rockefeller Center is the home of the infamous NYC Christmas Tree each year. It is also home to Radio City Music Hall, NBC Studios, and many shops and restaurants. As a kid I would love visiting in the winter and go ice skating under the tree. It really is a magical time in the city, especially for children.

The Carousel in Central Park is a beautiful piece of (working) art. So even if riding stationary horses doesn't really interest you or your kids, I would definitely recommend a visit to take a look at the beautiful handmade horses.

Coming to the Central Park Zoo was always one of my favorite things to do when I was little. The seal tank in the center of the zoo when you walk in is a great welcome for anyone! My favorite was visiting the polar bears; there was one in particular named Gus that I liked to watch swim and run around.

This is something I've never actually done (but always wanted to) but great for kids of all ages - myself included! Sign up to race model boats in Central Park! It's also really close to the Alice in Wonderland statue, if that's your cup of tea.

The American Museum of Natural History is a lot of fun for kids (and adults!). If you've seen Night at the Museum then you'll already have a good idea of the kinds of things you'll see and learn here. There are dinosaur fossils, giant wooly mammoth's, lions, ocean life, rocks and gems, and a planetarium!

The Brooklyn Bridge is an incredible feat of engineering for the 1800's. On a nice day definitely take the kiddos for a walk across it and over to Brooklyn Bridge Park (there's a great little ice cream shop on the other side). Walking across the bridge above traffic and the east river is a really fun experience!
